Ed Sheeran pulled a surprising move yesterday as he broke out his guitar and performed in court during his Marvin Gaye copyright trial. According to the suit filed against Sheeran, the British singer-songwriter stole the instrumental progression of Marvin Gaye’s “Let’s Get It On”. As part of the proceedings, Sheeran was invited to play the opening to “Thinking Out Loud” in court. This was in order to prove that while there are similarities, the two songs are very different.
