The American Red Cross is reporting a severe blood shortage and is urging people in the Yakima area to donate now to prevent delays in lifesaving care. Winter weather and seasonal pressures typically strain the blood supply, and volunteer donors are crucial to keeping inventory stable. The Red Cross is asking eligible donors to make an appointment soon. As an incentive, those who give blood through January 25, 2026 will be entered for a chance to win a trip for two to Super Bowl LX in Santa Clara, California. Donors who give between January 26 and February 28 will receive a $20 e-gift card.
